ÇOK GOTT is a book that sheds light on an underrepresnted cultural hertiage, by collecting recipes from different multicultural subrubs in Sweden.

In today’s media we often encounter a narrative of Swedish suburbs that focuses on social vulnerability, alienation, criminality and segregation. But this is by no means the complete picture of these areas. I wanted to challenge this portrayal and narrative by focusing on something else - the food. By bringing forward stories and images that do not merely point to problems, but that also give a nuanced description of the everyday life in these places.

Swedish food is often described as being meatballs, herring and mashed potatoes. My image of Swedish food has always been different, as I grew up in a southern project of Stockholm, where the food was as varied as the cultural backgrounds of its community. This is a cultural heritage I have never found represented in mainstream cookbooks and that is why I wanted to create something that could fill that void.
